Daniel Oren

After studying cello, voice, composition and piano in Israel, Daniel Oren graduated in conducting from Berlin Hochschule. He began his career as a conductor very young, in 1975, when he won the first Prize in the first Herbert Von Karajan competition, chosen by von Karajan himself.

Regarded as one of the greatest conductors of our time, he is particularly acclaimed for his unique interpretations of the Veristic repertoire and his ability to cooperate with singers. He collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti, Alfredo Kraus, Ghena Dimitrova, Placido Domingo, Raina Kabaivanska, Piero Cappuccilli, Mirella Freni, Leo Nucci and other greatest artists of the XX century.

Daniel Oren is guest conductor of the most prestigious opera and symphony institutions worldwide, such as Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, The Metropolitan Opera, Opera de Paris, Teatro Real in Madrid, Arena di Verona Opera Festival.

He was musical director of several prestigious institutions such as Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Rome Opera House, Genova Opera House, Israeli Opera House, Arena di Verona Opera Festival. Since 2007, he is the artistic director of Teatro Municipale Giuseppe Verdi in Salerno, Italy.
